Virtual Easter Basket & 3 Awards!

Jenny @ Our Nifty Notebook sent me this virtual Easter basket! It's probably a good thing it's not real, because I don't have very good willpower against that much chocolate!

Tot School: Spring theme

Tot School

Jackson is 21 months old.

Whew! We had a crazy busy week.  I had a lot planned that we didn't even get to try.  Jackson had 2 sessions of speech therapy, a doctor's appointment, 3 park playdates, another Easter egg hunt, a McDonald's playdate AND we celebrated his dad's birthday

Books:
Ready for Spring by Marthe Jocelyn
So Many Butterflies! (a Dora book) by Lara Bergen
The Itsy Bitsy Spider by Kate Toms
Raindrop Plop! by Wendy Cheyette Lewison
I'm a seed by Jean Marzollo

Arts &Crafts
 Handprint Butterfly

Do-a-dots (Jackson is really starting to like doing these!)

Snack - blueberry muffins in butterfly and flower muffin tins

Matching- I printed off these butterflies,  attached some felt to the back, and made a matching game to play on our felt board. Jackson liked putting the pieces together, but wasn't really worried about matching them by color.

Practical Life
After we read "I'm a seed," I took Jackson outside and let him help me water the plants.

Music -Goodbye Winter, Hello Spring (click the link to listen and/or download)

Outdoor Play
We attempted to fly a kite. It didn't really go so well!

Plus Jackson was too busy trying to chase the ducks into the pond to pay attention to us!

And like I said, we went to the park A LOT!
He loves watching the boats on the waterfront!

Happy Birthday Jason!

Jason's birthday is actually Saturday but he's going to be working like crazy this weekend, so we celebrated Thursday night.

I made carrot cake cupcakes with cheese cream icing and mini snickerdoodle cookies on top.  We ate it with Cold Stone's cake batter ice cream. 3 of Jason's favorite desserts!

The new TV was Jason's birthday present- a 65 in LCD screen. It's freaking huge! Jackson colored him a birthday card and promptly tore it to pieces. Isn't he sweet?

Overheard in the Grocery Store

I was using the self-checkout the other day when a little boy (maybe 10 yrs old) came up to the cashier.
This was their conversation:

Her: Oh honey, do you need help finding your mom?
Him: No, I don't have a mom.
Her: Oh, well, um, who are you here with?
Him: My dad. I don't have a mom because he doesn't have a husband.
Her: You mean he doesn't have a wife.
Him: Do you have a husband?
Her: No I don't.
Him: (smiling widely) Do you want to meet my dad?

I just started cracking up.  I wonder if this was the boy's genius idea to get a mom, or if the dad sent him over!

Jackson's New Monkey Room

I've mentioned before that when we moved in, Jackson's room was bright pink. We finally got around to painting it!

Before
(and yes his room was hideously messy when I took these photos. oops!)

and yes there was a towel covering his window.
we hadn't gotten around to putting the real curtains up yet.

After
The walls are arugula green.

We got this super cute monkey vinyl wall decal from Quote the Walls

I took this old black TV stand ....

and turned it into shelves for Jackson's stuffed animals.

What do you think?
