Jackson is 25 months old.
We are finally getting back into the swing of things here. Jackson is obsessed with Chicka Chicka Boom Boom
Of course, we read the story. We also listened to the story on CD.
I printed off a coconut tree (this was a printable in a lapbook that someone made, I can't find my link to it now though) and we put it on our magnetic white board and played with letters. I retold the story this way, named letters for him, spelled some simple words, etc. But every time I said "Chicka Chicka BOOM BOOM" he tore all the letters off as fast as he could!
We had a snack: (chocolate graham crackers, apple slices, Alphabits cereal)
Played with an alphabet puzzle
Colored a picture of a coconut tree and then added letter stickers to it
Pretended to make alphabet soup using some foam letters (but he wasn't that interested)
and Jackson played with his little Magic Writer thingy. He loves it, and I love it because he can scribble all he wants and I don't have to worry about scrubbing crayon marks off my walls!
We also watched Elmo's ABC rap over and over again. He just loves it!

I need to check out that book...Even being a preschool teacher, I have heard of it, but don't think I have ever read it.
That looks like a wonderful day! Great job!! Fun and education all in one!! How exciting!!! Just the way I love to teach my kids ... through fun times!!
Quietude is the crown of life.............................................................
Oh! Thank you for reminding me about this book. We used to check it out at the library ALL the time when my daughter was younger. Now that she's 4 I'm findind that she appreciates these "old" books in a different way and it's so fun to see her experience them again!
I can't believe how many Brandys have left comments...but here I am...another one. I just noticed that you are a navy submariner wife and a former teacher. My husband was on a submariner as a missile tech. And I am a former elem. teacher as well. We lived in Kingsland, GA. I taught in Kingsland as well. I stopped teaching to stay home with our 3 kids once we moved back to Alabama. Wondered if you were in that same area? Love the Chicka Chicka Boom Boom Snack. My youngest is 26 months old (boy) and loves the book like your son does. He will enjoy the snack. I have printed those same pages out and like you I can't remember where they came from. Anyway, glad I found your blog from Show and Tell and will be back.
Oops, meant to say my husband was on a submarine, not on a submariner. That's funny!
Hey, I just realized that you are in Georgia! I taught at Matilda Harris up until 3 years ago. Which school did you teach at? I only taught 2nd grade there for 7 yrs. What grade did you teach?
Great ideas! LOVE the coconut tree snack! Thanks for sharing!
