Bag Tag

Danita tagged me for the Bag Tag that has been going around. So, here's my purse....

I know, it's not a super expensive, name brand purse. I don't even know what the brand is, I just know I thought it was super cute and it only cost me $20. Actually it was free because I had a gift card. (Notice I said, it was cute. It is now a year old and getting kinda worn. I really need a new one!)

Inside....

It's a small bag so there's not too much in it, but here we go...
--I always carry my camera. But obviously that's not in the picture, because I'm, you know, using it.
--my pink Fossil wallet which I love and is full of way too much stuff...including coupons for baby food LOL
--my new pink Blackberry Pearl
--Burt's Bees
--Midnight Pomegranate lotion from Bath & Body Works
--Strawberry lipgloss, the Jessica Simpson kind.
--Sweet Raisin lipgloss from Mary Kay
--Baby, Baby lipstick from Clinique
--keys
--spare keys
--spare change
--a movie ticket stub from who knows when
--allergy meds
and there was some Sweet Watermelon gum in there, but when I opened it up, the pack was empty so I threw it away without thinking about the whole point of this meme. Oh well, moving on...

I tag:

Jamie
Mandy
Amanda
Jessie
Kat
Stephanie
and anyone else who hasn't done this one but wants to!

F My Life

I know I told you that F*** my life is my new favorite website. So I thought, if I had to make an entry, from any point in my life, what would it be? I think it would be from way back when Jason and I first started dating, and it would go something like this...

Today, my grandmother backed her station wagon into my new boyfriend's sports car. FML

HA! I don't think any of us will ever forget that one!

So come on, give me something embarrassing. What would your FML entry be??

My sister is famous

Ok, ok maybe not yet. But she does have her art in a museum! How exciting is that? She has three pottery pieces in the Wiregrass Museum of Art.

Jamie (from This is Me, Consequently) is a seriously talented artist. She is always painting stuff for me or Jackson and she has her own Etsy store. You should buy something from it. You’ll be happy you did when she does become famous. I personally have a ton of paintings she has done that I know will make me a rich woman one day. Plus, I’ll be auctioning off all of her stuff on Ebay. I think her old Barney sheets will sell for a pretty penny.

Yo Gabba Gabba seriously freaks me out

And this is just another reason why…..

Don’t get me wrong, Jackson LOVES it. He loves the colors and the music and everything. But who could possibly watch the show without wondering if the writers/producers/etc. aren’t all high? I'm betting they all get hopped up on LSD before taping each show. Or at the very least, smoke some pot.

Not that I would know anything about that.

My first Not Me Monday

I do not hate doctors.(Maybe if I keep repeating this, it will be true.)

I did not spend all of Friday night up with a sick, screaming baby.

I did not spend all Saturday morning calling doctor's offices within a 30 mile radius only to find them all closed or refusing to see kids under 3.

I do not hate doctors.

I did not spend almost 3 hours in a ped's office Sunday afternoon just for him to tell me that it was just a cold and there was nothing they could do. And I did not decide to hate the nurse who had looked at his ear the day before and tell us it was definitely an ear infection and he needed antibiotics ASAP.

I did not lose my shit when they told me after the appointment that they don't take our insurance and I had to pay out of pocket for the appointment right then and there.
I do not hate doctors.

Saturday linkage: The time waster edition

Who likes to procrastinate? I do, I do! And you do too, that is why you're a blogger right? I mean, who wants to work or clean the house? Here are some of my favorite sites.

This is the newest one I've started reading. It is absolutely hilarious and will definitely cheer you up if you're having a bad day. It features real horrible/funny stories like this one....

Today, my sister asked if she could look through my closet to find something to wear. She is 6 months pregnant. FML

That's right, I heart celebrity gossip.

You already read this one don't you? Makes me happy when I realize it's Sunday morning.

This site is hilarious. I found it when I was looking for cake decorating ideas back in December. They take/find pictures of really badly decorated cakes. Like this one...

You probably read this one already too, but how could I not post it? It's a total time waster and absolutely hilarious.

Recipes, baking, & cake and cupcake decorating ideas. Sometimes I go look at it for ideas, and sometimes I go just because I'm hungry :)

I can haz hotdog/Loldogs
Ok, I just like looking at cute pics of puppies. Like this one...

This is another blog by HappyHourSue. The name explains it all.

And of course, all of your blogs :)

So what do you do to waste time? Got any funny sites to share?

LUSH Giveaway

I was shopping online at LUSH this morning, ordering a few of my favorite things, and I decided to get a $25 LUSH giftcard for one of my fabulous readers!

About LUSH: I fell in love with this place when I lived in Europe and they had stores everywhere. Now I have to order online to get my favorites, but it is so worth it. They have tons of bath & body products, all made by hand, all vegetarian (some vegan) and NO animal testing. And it all smells delicious.

To enter: Just leave a comment on this post. Tell me your favorite LUSH product or what you would like to try...or whatever! Just leave a comment. You do not have to be a blogger, but you do have to have a valid email address.

You can also get two additional entries: one by subscribing to my feed or "following" me if you're on blogger, and one by twittering or writing a blurb in one of your blog posts about it. Just leave a different comment for each one that you do! If you twitter about it, make sure to leave your twitter name in the comment section.

That's all! I'll have the drawing for this contest on March 9th. Good luck :)

Healthy Turkey Chili

Since it was rainy all day yesterday, I decided to make something I haven't made in awhile, Turkey chili. It's sooo good and pretty healthy too-made with lean meat and full of fiber!

You need:

1 tablespoon olive oil
1 pound lean ground turkey
Chili seasoning to taste*
1 16 oz can tomatoes diced
2 16 oz can kidney beans
2 cans of Rotel (chili-ready or regular)

*If you use the chili ready Rotel, you won't need much chili seasoning unless you want it to be super spicy.

1. Use a large pot to heat olive oil and brown the turkey.

2. Add chili seasoning.

3. Add tomatoes, kidney beans, and Rotel. Add more chili powder if desired.

4. Heat on high until it comes to a boil, then lower the heat to medium and simmer for about 20 minutes.

That's it! Super easy! You can add 2 cups of water if you want to thin it, but I usually think there is enough water in the cans of beans & tomatoes. You can also make it healthier by adding corn or other veggies.

My mother taught me how (LOST)

I am so happy with this season of LOST. Even though it is still pretty confusing, at least we are getting more answers and less flashbacks/forwards.

You know I hate spoilers, but I can't do these posts without them, and since I haven't done a LOST post yet this season, there may be some old stuff in here.

I am SO glad Jin is alive!

I actually got goosebumps when they announced that Frank was the pilot!

Are we getting some new characters? There were a few extra people on the plane.

Where the hell is Claire? We never found out for sure if she was dead did we? She just got all weird as hell at the end of last season.

I can not figure Ben out.

I was actually excited last week when Jason's favorite character showed up- the smoke monster! Ha

I wonder how Locke is going to manage to come back to life? And. Does that somehow mean that Jack's dad really is alive again? Or is he just acting as a body for Jacob?

I wonder what made Kate & others change their mind and decide to go back? Especially since Kate & Sun are leaving their kids behind. I mean, I know they don't want to bring them to the island, but still. I can't imagine just leaving them behind when they don't know if they will be able to go back to them. And who did Kate leave Aaron with anyway?

I'm still wondering what Sawyer said to Kate before he jumped. Sure did miss his hot body in this episode!

Food for Thought

If we can't trust our government to adequately fund our children's education, how can we even THINK about putting health care in their hands?

C25K

I have never been big into working out, it usually makes my list of Things I Hate, but lately I have been working out a lot. I've been walking 2 miles a day/5 days a week for the last month, and yesterday, I was actually UPSET that my gym wasn't going to open until 10 because of the holiday. I mean, what the hell is going on? That just doesn't sound like me. But I'm thinking of starting the Couch to 5K program. I'm going to start the first workout this morning and see how it goes! I'm really feeling good about all of the exercising that I have been doing and I really want to lose all of this extra weight.

So, have any of you tried this program? How did you like it? Any tips for me?

bittersweet symphony

Valentine's Day is such a bittersweet holiday for me. On one hand, it is the weekend that Jason proposed to me two years ago with the sweetest proposal ever. On the other hand, it is also the day three years ago that this skank-ho he called his best friend sent him a butt ass naked picture of herself. Using Myspace. But don't worry, it was 'just a joke' and the memory of seeing her naked has almost faded enough for me to not want to claw my own eyes out anymore.

I wrote this post yesterday and decided that it sounded just a little too bitter, but I'm feeling a little bitter this morning since I found out that Jason spent this Valentine's day at a strip club. Uh-huh. Which really wouldn't have bothered me much except for the fact that he spent almost $200 bucks there. I told him that for that much money I hoped he at least got a decent lapdance, but he says they didn't do that there. Then he started sending me corny text messages like, "You complete me."

I'll post a picture of my sweet Valentine, Jackson, later. At least I know he has a good 20 more years until he starts spending holidays in strip clubs. I hope.

Give the gift of beauty

I heard the worst commercial ever today. It said, "This Valentine's Day, give your special someone the gift of beauty; Get them a gift certificate to our plastic surgery facility." Seriously, how does offering to pay for someone to surgically alter their body for purely cosmetic purposes say 'I love you'? Oh that's right, it doesn't. It says, "I wish you were prettier."

I'm not saying I'm perfect by any means. If I weren't scared of needles, surgery, and doctors in general, I'd probably be signing up for lipo right now. But that doesn't change the fact that if Jason ever decided that plastic surgery was an appropriate gift for any occasion, I'd kick him in the butt and make him spend the money on a vasectomy.

Secrets to Happiness

Secrets to Happiness by Sarah Dunn
A Review
Coming in March

Holly Frick is a freshly divorced woman who is still in love with her ex-husband and a writer whose first novel tanked, forcing her to take a job writing the script for a ridiculous tween tv show with her gay pal Leonard. While her life is sort of falling apart around her, she is still giving plenty of advice to her friends to try to fix their lives, including the new girlfriend of her ex-boyfriend. This novel is witty, funny, and has completely relatable characters. Holly is in the middle of it all, and you get to see what people will really do to make themselves happy. Sometimes we have to be selfish, sometimes selfless, it's our choice; but no matter our choices they all have consequences. I thought this was a really good read and it definitely makes you think about what you would do to make yourself happy, yet manages to stay lighthearted through and through.

I told you I live in the Bible Belt

This is what you see if you drive to Birmingham from my house...

All the cool kids have one

I just got a BlackBerry and really have no idea how to use it. I didn't really want a BB unless I could get the Storm but damn those things are expensive. So the only thing I know how to use on here is email, so that is how I am writing this blog. Its times like these that make me really miss my husband who I know would have this thing all pimped out with all of the features I could ever want on here, but instead I can't even figure out how to download a ringtone.

This may be the beginning of my midlife crisis, which really is just sad because I'm a little young. But when I told Jason I was frustrated with my BB, he told me to just take it back and get a phone that is easier to use, but for some reason that put me into a panic thinking about old people and how they can't adapt to all of the changing technology and how I never want to be the kind of mom who doesn't understand why her son wants this new-fangled machinery and all the while I am still thinking that I am WAY too young to be having this conversation even if it is only in my own head. Or was. Now my ridiculous anxiety will be out there for all of the internet to see.

Whoever makes BlackBerry must be really conservative because this autotext feature really didn't want me to write pimped. It changed it to "pumped" like 32 times before it gave up. Of course now all of my emails will probably be monitored by the government for any other signs that I may be working as a prostitute.

Well this little entry seems to have taken a downturn, though I really don't know if it had a point to begin with, so I'm going to go so we can get ready for Pop Pops birthday party.
