It's almost Mother's Day, and I hardly know what to do with myself. I've spent the last 15 years or so thinking of Mother's Day as a time to mourn over
the loss of my mother. I've spent the last 5 years or so truly appreciating
having a grandmother to take her place. I've already sent out the
Mother's Day gifts and cards to all of the grandmothers and great-grandmothers in our family. And truthfully, I'm not expecting much recognition from my husband, based on
last year's little disaster.
So what am I going to do on Mother's Day? I have no idea. But I am going to take some time to appreciate myself and all of the hard work I've done this past year. Even if I'm the only one in my household to recognize it.
What are you doing on Mother's Day? Is there any gift you're hoping to receive?
9 love me:
Being that I'm not a Mom yet, I'll be cooking a nice lunch for my soon-to-be Mother-in-Law. She's always made me feel super welcome in the family and has been immensely supportive with everything for the wedding. It'll be a great afternoon!
I just want my husband to come home safe...whenever that may be. But if he was here I would want the day off. Lol.
Gosh, thanks for reminding me!
I gave my mum a call on the British mother's day, which was the 22nd of march, but of course my mum's in Holland, and they'll celebrate it tomorrow!
Er... I think I'll give her a... call again!
And when I see her, in a couple of weeks time, I'll bring some Starbucks coffee, 'cause they've got a new espresso machine.
My mom died when I was 12 and I never really had anyone to fill that role. So, since I've become a mom, it really is just a day that I like to be with my girls.
Happy Mother's Day to you!
After my husband telling me that I made too big of a deal of Valentine's day, and that being the reason I didn't get anything, I'm just hoping we can get through the day without mentioning it's Mother's Day...
Hope you have a wonderful day, though!
I hope you have a wonderful day and he surprises you!!!!! You deserve it!!!!
happy mama's day. I received a gift and didn't like it and my husband took it back. i'm awful.
What a sweet picture! I hope you had a happy Mother's Day.
My mom passed away 11 years ago, and my oldest was 9 months old at the time, so none of my kids remember her. I have tried to be very intentional of telling "little stories" about my mom--the everyday kind of stuff.
This Mother's Day was spent in the ER as my baby girl became the first of my 3 kids to have stitches. :(
{{{{HUgs}}}} sorry to hear that you lost your mom. I couldn't imagine. Hold your grammy close. I miss mine so very much. Hope you enjoyed your mothers day. Great pic of you.
