Spicy foods?

Haiku Friday

I need your help! Please
recommend some spicy food
(but not too spicy)

that I can eat in
hopes of possibly getting
labor started soon?

Send me some simple
recipes or tell me where
to get something fast.

Personally I
have been surviving off of
the spicy chicken

sandwiches from a
local Wendy's since my doc
appointment Tuesday.

Ok, I know, I know. I still have two weeks until my due date so I shouldn't be worried yet, and I'm not really. But I am getting more and more irritable and uncomfortable by the day. I thought I would be one of those women (do they even exist?) who just takes the last few weeks calmly, stocking up on extra sleep and getting ready for the baby. After all, most of my friends tell me that I was the nicest, calmest bride ever. I just went with the flow, not worried about anything. I knew as long as my groom showed up that everything would be fine. "Oh, the wedding cake is leaning? Who cares. It tastes delicious! Bring more champagne!"

Hmm, maybe that is the problem. Too many months without alcohol. I bet a glass of champagne would totally bliss me out right now.

But apparently I am going to be the opposite. I'm incredibly moody and irritable and can't sleep worth a damn! My doc said have sex (too bad hubby's working the night shift so we are on totally opposite schedules this week!) and eat spicy foods (I'm trying). I've been waddling walking more. Someone recommended lifting heavy objects (is that even safe?) but that goes directly against my laziness excuse to get out of certain household chores, so I probably won't be doing that.

Any other recommendations? Food I should eat? Someone suggested chicken Alfredo. I have no idea how that works but I'll probably try it. No, I won't be trying Castor oil, trust me I have heard horror stories on that one.

Did you do anything to try to jump start labor? Did anything work?

9 love me:

Oh hon. I don't know. I tried that, and I hate spicy foods. It just didn't work for me. Nothing did. Baby came when he was ready. No sooner.
I tried some REALLY spicy chicken wings and no go. Other than that I have no idea.
I tried all the myths. Hope you have better luck!

I knew a lady who scrubbed floors on hands and knees all day to get it going....worked for her- five times! I think the little buggers come when God and they are darn ready. Good luck, though!

My first was right on time, my second was two wks early. I was convinced the third would fall right out weeks ahead of schedule. She wasn't coming so I tried everything: REALLY spicy foods, sex, walking, rasberry tea all day . . . I even begged the dr to strip my membranes (look it up if you don't know what that is: )which I had heard would really do the trick. Even with stripped membranes she wouldn't budge. I was induced 6 days after my due date. They come when they are ready.

EGGPLANT PARMESEAN (spelling)!! That's what I was told. But, it didn't work for me. I was 10 days past my due date (I am ducking now) and I know you don't want to hear that. I totally understand exactly what you feel. I was there, honey!! What sent me into labor was Clemson beating Miami in a football game in 2004. I was contracting 20 minutes after we won. :) Unfortunately, it's not football season, so go with the eggplant.

How cute are you!!

Blue cheese dressing, Cream cheese, Frank's Hot sauce and crumbles of bleu cheese. Soften CC and mix all together to your texture pref and spiciness. Eat with fritos or celery. It's delish!! and spicy.

Good luck sweets. Like she said though, they come when they're ready!

Chili Cheese Fries with red pepper flakes are awesome too.

Two words: nipple stimulation.

Yeah, I know, weird. But I sat there watching TV and tweaking my nipples for about two hours and my water broke about three hours after I stopped. My ob/gyn recommended it.

Have fun!
